Jaslene Gonzalez biography

Jaslene Gonzalez, who won the eight season of the America’s Next Top Model, had been born May 28, 1986 in Puerto Rico. They moved to the US and she was brought up in Chicago, Illinois. She is the first full Latina to win the title and is also the second shortest winner – she is 5'7" (1.7 m) tall.

Jaslene graduated from Notre Dame High School for Girls in Chicago. Because of the contest, she was an online college admissions advisor. She had already worked as a model before she won ANTM. She had been represented by Avant Garde Models and had appeared in fashion shows for local Chicago designers, including Alexis Arquette. In an interview for the Seventeen Magazine, Jaslene confessed that she had a previously abusive relationship with her ex-boyfriend with whom she broke up before the contest.

Jaslene also took part in the seventh cycle of ANTM, but was eliminated in the semi-finals. At the same time, Tyra Banks saw great potential in her and encouraged Jaslene to apply to the next season. And so she did. The jury, including Tyra Banks, was impressed by her passion and motivation for winning the contest. She was the second contestant (the first was Joanie Dodds) who never placed in the bottom 2.

Thanks to the winning of America’s Next Top Model, she got a 100,000 USD contract from CoverGirl Cosmetics and she won a representation by Elite Model Management. In addition, she appeared on the cover of Seventeen Magazine. She also modeled for US Weekly, In Touch Weekly, Vibe Vixen, and Tempo magazines, and soon will appear on the covers of Latino and Urban Latin magazines. Not only was she photographed and interviewed by magazines, but she also appeared on TV shows. She was interviewed on talk shows 106 & Park and TRL, plus she was a host of the StyleSpots for CoverGirl TV. In the 2007 Puerto Rican parade she appeared as „La Madrina” in a yellow cabriolet. She appeared in Mercedez Benz Fashion Week Miami Swim where she walked for Ashley Paige. Gonzalez is nominated for the 2007 TeenChoice Awards which will be announced 26 August on FOX. She is nominated for „Choice TV: Female Reality/Variety Star.”
